Returns & Refund Policy
Our returns policy
You have 14 days from receiving your order to request a return. To be eligible, your item must be:
- Unopened and unused, with its original seal intact;
- In the same condition you received it, in its original packaging; and
- Accompanied by your receipt or proof of purchase.
Because we sell alcohol, we can only accept returns where the bottle's seal is unbroken. Once a bottle has been opened it cannot be resold and is not eligible for return — except where the item is faulty or was damaged in transit (see Damaged, faulty or incorrect items below).
How to start a return
Email us at info@saltydogwhisky.co.uk to request a return before sending anything back. We'll confirm whether your return is accepted and explain the next steps.

Please note:
- You are responsible for the cost of return postage on change-of-mind returns.
- We recommend using a tracked and insured service — we can't be responsible for items lost or broken on their way back to us.
- We do not charge a restocking fee.
- Items sent back without first requesting a return will not be accepted.
Your statutory right to cancel
Separately from the above, if you are a consumer buying online you have a legal right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.
If you cancel, you must return the goods to us and — for a change-of-mind cancellation — cover the cost of return. We'll refund you once the goods are back with us. Where goods have been handled more than was necessary to establish their nature and condition, we may reduce the refund to reflect any resulting loss in value (for alcohol, opening a sealed bottle will generally mean it has no resale value).
Damaged, faulty or incorrect items
Please inspect your order as soon as it arrives. If any item is broken, faulty, or you've received the wrong product, contact us at info@saltydogwhisky.co.uk within 48 hours of delivery, including photos of the item and its packaging where possible.
In these cases we cover the cost of return and will put things right with a replacement or a full refund. As whisky travels in glass, reporting breakages promptly helps us resolve them quickly.
Non-returnable items
Some items can't be returned:
- Opened or unsealed alcohol (unless faulty or damaged in transit);
- Sale items and gift cards;
Exchanges
The quickest way to get what you want is to return your original item and, once the return is accepted, place a separate order for the new one.
Refunds
Once we've received and inspected your return, we'll let you know whether your refund has been approved. If it has, we'll refund your original payment method within 10 business days.
Please remember it can take additional time for your bank or card provider to process and post the refund. If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your refund and you still haven't received it, contact us at info@saltydogwhisky.co.uk.
